A visa refusal is the rejection of the application for a non-immigrant visa by the immigration authorities.
Iceland’s immigration authorities are called the Directorate of Immigration and are responsible for the immigration policies, visa application, and refusal services. (https://www.utl.is/index.php/en/home-english/133-english)
The Iceland visa would cost you 60 euros and the visa application process can take up to four weeks. Iceland is a signatory to the Schengen Agreement.
The reasons for visa refusal for Iceland is the same as that of the reasons for the visa refusal of the Schengen states but the most common reasons are that the applicant has an alert issued against him/her, they are considered as a threat to the national security, the applicant has no travel insurance coverage, the funds to cover the expenses are not sufficient, the purpose of the visit and the intention of return are not clear, or that the applicant has submitted the wrong travel documents.
The solutions for the visa refusal are quite straightforward. The applicant can either appeal against the decision of visa refusal or file for a fresh application.
The right to appeal is granted under Article 32(3) of the Visa Code and the appeal letter/remonstration letter needs to be submitted to the Embassy of Island. The appeal should only be filed if the applicant has valid reasons for filing it and if he/she has enough time to wait for the decision of the appeal.
If the applicant does not have valid reasons for appealing or does not have the time to wait, he/she needs to file a fresh application with the Embassy.
